GREEN PASTURES FOR MURRAY ART MUSUEM ALBURY
Green Pastures is a video work by Olivia Oluwayemi Suleimon and Naomi Impa Musemu, commissioned for Parallel Structures as part of Dream Variations (2023) at Murray Art Museum Albury.
Shot on Bungambrawatha Country, the work reflects on Naomi’s migration journey from Kinshasa, DRC, speaking to the pursuit of a better life through both physical relocation and spiritual resilience. Lush green landscapes become symbols of promise and paradox — evoking biblical references from Psalm 23 while gesturing toward the colonial violence embedded in Australian pastoral land.
Through portraiture, poetry, and performance, Green Pastures honours the complexities of starting again: the cost of hope, the beauty of faith, and the power of Black self-determination in Australia.
AFRICAN PRIDE SERIES FOR AFRICAN MUSIC & CULTURAL FESTIVAL

Created during a pivotal cultural moment in the wake of #BlackLivesMatter, the piece weaves personal testimony with bold visual storytelling to celebrate identity, heritage, and community.
Commissioned for the African Music and Cultural Festival’s virtual program, the film acts as both a tribute and a time capsule — reclaiming beauty, amplifying Black voices, and offering a lasting contribution to the African diaspora in Australia.
